TLSS TIPS | EP.6 : Let’s Talk About MG Outsoles(English Version)
About six months ago, when we, as TLSS Thailand, were planning the brand launch, many ideas were thrown around. One particularly strong idea came from a key teammate. Since we want to encourage players to choose the right boots for the right playing surface, why not make this our core strength right from the launch?
It was clearly a compelling idea. So the team took it further and developed it into something tangible, resulting in our debut model, TLSS TACTICIAN.GOAT MG SPECIAL Ari Football EDITION, which many of you may have already come across. (And thank you to everyone who has shown interest and considers us)
After previously discussing the design philosophy behind FG outsoles, it’s time to talk about another outsole type that is just as important, or perhaps even more important in certain situations.
What is MG?
“MG” stands for Multi-Ground, which literally means “multiple surfaces.” In simple terms, MG football boots are designed to perform across a variety of playing surfaces, all in one pair.
Before diving into how such a boot is designed or whether it truly works as intended, we’d like to invite you to reflect on this,
Wouldn’t it be better if every football player could fully enjoy the game without unnecessary injuries ?
No ankle sprains, no knee pain, no awkward twists, at least not from factors that could have been avoided.
Football is already classified as a physical contact sport, meaning a certain level of injury risk is inevitable. But players shouldn’t have to deal with additional injuries caused by improper equipment. This has always been our top priority and core philosophy in product design especially when it comes to footwear.
Even if we perfect FG outsoles to the highest standard, the reality is that a single outsole type cannot meet the needs of every player or every playing condition.
This is especially true in Asia, where most accessible football fields are artificial turf.
In countries like Thailand, even natural grass fields, particularly public ones are often far from ideal. Instead of lush, soft grass, players frequently encounter dry, uneven surfaces mixed with hard soil.
FG boots, which are designed for optimal stud penetration into natural grass, may not be suitable for these conditions. In fact, using them on harder or artificial surfaces can increase the risk of unnecessary injuries, which we strongly aim to prevent.
If you play only on artificial turf, AG (Artificial Ground) is ideal
If you play only on natural grass, SG (Soft Ground) or FG (Firm Ground) works best
and if you play only on hard ground then HG (Hard Ground) is the right choice
But here’s the real question,
What if you regularly play on multiple types of surfaces ?
Is there an outsole that can truly handle all of them, effectively, safely, and reliably in just one pair ?
That’s exactly where MG comes in…
